Open-source 3D printable frameless stereotaxic system for young and adult pigs

Here we present an open-source solution, comprising several 3D-printable mechanical pieces and software tools, for frameless stereotaxic targeting in young adult pigs of varying weights. Localization was achieved using IR camera CT imaging. The positions the tools were followed, after registration pig space, with a scan brain atlas. system used to target lateral ventricle subthalamic nucleus (STN) one piglet two Yucatan miniature pigs, which either normal weight or obese. Positive confirmed first trial all subjects, by radiopaque enhancement actual recording STN electrophysiological signature. We conclude that freely available models, easily built low-end 3D printers, their associated can be effectively surgery at minimal cost, irrespective animal.
